At the end of the winter transfer window, Southampton loaned Juan Larios to Real Zaragoza.
Initially, the Spaniard was on loan at Cultural Leonesa. He played 13 times in all competitions for the Segunda División club. Things were going relatively well, although the stay ended abruptly.
The 22-year-old has now spoken out Herald of Aragon About his return to Southampton and his subsequent switch to Real Zaragoza.
He described the situation as 'chaotic' and revealed that the Saints were initially looking to sell him permanently to another club. That plan failed and Southampton were quick to find an alternative solution. sevilla were linked but Nothing came out of it.
“The last month has been a bit chaotic. My agent called me and told me that my club was in talks.
“Southampton decided to end the loan unilaterally, I accepted it. They were going to sell me to another club, but it didn't happen.”
Larios expressed his gratitude to Ruben Seles' role in bringing him to the Spanish team. That's why he was so keen on the transfer, despite being in the middle of a whirlwind of negotiations.
“Ruben has been very important to me. The moment he called me, I knew I wanted to come. I told him if he managed to convince Southampton I would go there without hesitation.”
The Southampton player is adopting a good attitude
The defender is very optimistic about making an impression and helping Real Zaragoza in the rest of the season.
“I hope to contribute in return. I've come to learn from them how they handle certain situations in the game.”
Larios had a good number of games for Cultural Leonesa, however, the start was difficult.
Perhaps that's why a fresh start was right for the full-back. Furthermore, Sales had watched Larios closely during his time at Southampton.
The defender hasn't played under his compatriot but that connection could prove vital at Zaragoza. They are second in the Segunda Division and need a big effort to stay alive.
