There was quite a fight between the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets on Monday night. Ultimately, the Pistons prevailed 110–104 thanks to the exploits of Cade Cunningham.
Still, nobody is talking only about the controversy. Four players were thrown out of the game. One of whom was Isaiah Stewart. According to WCNC’s Nick Carboni, after being ejected, Stewart evoked the spirit of the Motor City by explaining why he participated in the brawl.
“You don’t expect me to stand on the bench… Fuck, I was sent to Detroit for this.”
Things got worse in the third quarter when Jalen Duren pushed Moussa Diabate after being fouled. Later both the teams had to separate. Then, Stewart Miles came off the bench to attack Bridges after Bridges punched Jalen Duren.

In the end, Stewart, Bridges, Duran and Diabate were all eliminated. If that wasn’t enough, Hornets head coach Charles Lee was ejected for arguing with the referee over a call.
According to the Detroit Free Press/Yahoo Sports, Stewart has been known to scuffle in the past. In 2021, he infamously clashed with LeBron James during the Pistons/Lakers game. James hit Stewart while going for a rebound, leaving him bleeding. Stewart then had to be restrained by his teammates.
Ultimately, he was suspended for two games.
Meanwhile, this is the latest example of the Pistons attaching themselves to the feud. Sure, the bad boy Pistons of the late 1980s and early 1990s were known for their punishing physicality.
Then again, who can forget Malice at the Palace against the Indiana Pacers in 2004?
