As March approaches, the Philadelphia Eagles can begin making upgrades to their roster. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is typically one of the most active roster builders in football, and he's not afraid to swing for the fences.
Still, Roseman may have a tough job this offseason, depending on the decisions he makes with his two key players.
According to Jeff McClain via exposing birds Podcast, right tackle Lane Johnson and left guard Landon Dickerson are both considering retirement this offseason. Johnson, who is 35, may be less likely to retire than Dickerson, who is only 27.
“In terms of Lane and his future, I can say this: He's definitely not sure if he's coming back or not, I think,” McClain said. “You would think maybe that would make it less likely. When you're thinking about retirement, it's, 'Can my body do it again? Do I want to do it again? Lane has very high standards for himself. Landon Dickerson might be even more of a question mark.'
The Eagles pride themselves on having one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Last offseason, right guard Mekhi Becton left for the Los Angeles Chargers. Philadelphia's offense was never the same without him.
Now, are the Eagles faced with the prospect of replacing two more starting offensive linemen? This may prove to be a difficult task in an offseason.
