Ryan Naderi's move to Glasgow Rangers has been revealed by his agent, who has admitted the 22-year-old was close to a move to Ibrox.
Ostsee Zeitung comments From Naderi's agent, Laurent Burkert, today. He appeared on the OZ podcast Nachspielzeit this week.
After a month of drama and potential disappointment throughout January, Naderi joined Rangers on deadline day.
Rangers were keen on him and made several bids to Hansa Rostock to secure the winger. Despite the highest price offered by Rangers, the German club protested. The Scottish giants also offered to leave Naderi on loan in Germany until the summer.
This would have suited Naderi, who initially did not like the move in the middle of the season. However, he soon changed his mind and saw the move to Ibrox as an opportunity of a lifetime.
This made things particularly emotional in the final week of the window. Negotiations between Rostock and Rangers dragged on, putting the deal at risk of falling through completely. There were also disagreements between Naderi and Rostock's sporting director Amir Shapoorzadeh.
the deal is finally done Just two or three minutes before the Scottish deadline. Naderi joined Rangers for €5.5m. This is a record for Rostock and the German third division. It can also increase through bonus payments.
Ultimately, everyone wins, especially Naderi. Burkert believes he has secured a dream move.
“The last few weeks have passed without a trace for Ryan,” he said.
“Ryan's positive comments on the internet on his departure to Hansa will carry him forward and will also ensure that his bond with Rostock will last a lifetime.
“What's important for Ryan is to be who he is. I'm not worried because he's authentic and always has been. Plus, he has his natural freshness, ability to see things through and be positive towards people.”
“Now he has to get to that level in Scotland, at a club that represents internationally, that has incredible expectations and wants to compete for titles and European Cups.
“No one knows how it will turn out. We are also a little nervous. But I have confidence in the boy because he has incredible potential.”
However, there was one final moment with the German club that left its mark on the new Rangers man. He met some of his fans at Hamburg Airport, which was followed by a moment that brought tears to his eyes.
According to Burkhart, “(It was a) hair-raising moment.”
“At the gate we met Hansa fans who came up to Ryan and took pictures with him. They were visiting Dublin – and were totally friendly.”
