For the first time in 12 years, the NHL returns to the Olympic stage, co-hosted by the Italian cities Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. The Carolina Hurricanes will have five players from four of 12 different countries compete for gold. The men's ice hockey tournament will feature 30 games and begin on February 11, with the championship game taking place on February 22.

After performing at the Four Nations Faceoff tournament last February, Jacob Slavin will once again represent the United States as he takes to the ice in Italy. During the Four Nations, Slavin teamed up with Brock Faber on the top defensive line, and had a +3 plus/minus in four games – a showcase of his elite defensive ability.

Sebastian Aho will represent Finland, who are currently the reigning Olympic champions. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Finland narrowly defeated the Russian Olympic Committee in the gold medal match. Ironically, the Russian team they defeated had current Hurricanes defenseman Alexander Nikishin on their roster.
During the Four Nations, Aho recorded two assists for a total of two points and was assessed two penalty minutes in three games played.
Additionally, joining Aho will be former Hurricanes forward Teuvo Teravainen, who spent over 500 games with the organization.

Denmark will get help (and a helpful glove) from the Hurricanes' two 'Great Danes', Nikolaj Ehlers and Frederik Andersen. In the Olympic Qualification Games held in 2024, Nikolaj Ehlers posted one goal and three assists in four games, while Andersson recorded a 3–0–0 record with a save percentage of .938 and a goals against average of 1.31.

Initially removed from the Team Canada roster but left in the reserves, Seth Jarvis was selected the day before the NHL Olympic break to fill in for the skates of Braden Point, who would miss the games due to injury. In the Four Nations, Jarvis recorded one assist and played three games.
