
Willam Willemsen has admitted that he was very interested in leaving Birmingham City immediately when NEC Nijmegen contacted him in January.

The 27-year-old man returned to the Netherlands on February 1scheduled tribeEnding an 18-month stay with Birmingham City.
After previously impressing at Go Ahead Eagles he joined them for €4m in 2024 and was a regular after the Blues were promoted to the Championship.
However, their big summer spending spree and an injury forced him out of the team this season. He only made 13 appearances for Birmingham City this season, totaling 522 minutes. His last appearance was one minute in a 2–0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
This opened the door to the exit and NEC was happy to pay to bring him in. They know the midfielder made 62 appearances for Go Ahead Eagles before moving to Birmingham.
and it feels like Williamson was equally keen on the move. In fact, he insists that he was immediately drawn to the idea.

“I was immediately very interested. It's a great solution for me and the city of Birmingham, and I'm happy to be here,” He said.
“I find NEC's style of play very interesting. I've never played like this before, and I'm looking forward to it. It's aggressive, with a lot of freedom and a lot of forward pressure. It will take some time to get used to, but I think it will be fun.
“Before the signing, I called the manager and a few other people. Everyone was full of praise for the manager, and I could see from the first day that he was great.
“He is clear and has a clear vision of football. It takes some time to get used to, with a lot of freedom and running. I think that's really fun as an attacker.”
