Glenn Helder has admitted he is desperate for Arsenal to win the Premier League this season.
Soccer News covered the former Gunner’s comments today. He has admitted that he is desperate for Arsenal not to hinder their pursuit of the Premier League title.
For those who don’t know, Helder became the last signing of George Graham’s time at Arsenal in 1995.
He made only 49 appearances before he was eventually replaced by Marc Overmars, but has remained a Gunner since.
How Arsenal’s title challenge is testing nerves

As a result, he has kept a close eye on their title challenge this season. Mikel Arteta’s side are currently at the top of the table and five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. They restored their five-point lead with a 4-1 win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
That win was a clear one for the Gunners as disappointing form put their title hopes in jeopardy.
Draws against Brentford and Wolves had allowed Manchester City to close the gap and put pressure on the Emirates.
Some sections of the Arsenal fan base have certainly become concerned about a repeat of their previous ‘bottling’ of the Premier League.
Why do past seasons encourage lingering doubt?
Arsenal previously lost control of the title race in the final stages of the 2023/24 season, having led the side for most of the campaign.
However, a 12-point lead in their last nine games ultimately saw them finish behind Manchester City.
Helder is certainly one of those who has become concerned. He is praying that past mistakes are not repeated.
“This is my club and always will be,” He said.
“Unfortunately, they have not managed to make a successful final effort in recent years. I would wish all the heart for Arteta. He has done really well after Arsene Wenger.
“The league title would complete it. It would be exciting, but it could also happen in the final moments of the season.
“Look at City with Sergio Aguero in 2012. Hopefully Arsenal don’t make it as exciting, because then some people will give up in the stands.”
