As Miami Heat star Tyler Herro returned to action in the team’s 128-97 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night after missing the previous 15 games, it was a positive performance for the guard to remind the league of his potential. As the Heat look to turn their season around after the All-Star break, Friday was a step in the right direction, especially for Herro, as he revealed his main goal for the rest of the year.
To say the least, it has been a disappointing season for Herro, who has missed 45 of the 57 games Miami has played, in addition to missing 15 games due to a rib injury. In Friday’s win, he came off the bench to score a game-high 24 points on nine of 14 shooting from the field, two of four from deep, four rebounds and three assists.
According to the Miami Herald, his No. 1 goal is to stay healthy with 25 contests remaining, saying, “That’s all on my mind.”
“I just want to get out here and play with the whole team, get comfortable and put some healthy games together,” Herro said. “Just try to play games where I’m healthy.”
“Very happy to be playing basketball again,” Herro added. “It’s been a tough few months, going through various little injuries.”
Heat’s Tyler Herro explains how his ribs feel

While the Heat guard returned to practice in Herro on Thursday, he is recovering from a rib injury that was listed by the team as a “right costochondral; rib injury,” which are the joints that connect the ribs to the cartilage. After fracturing three ribs during a loss to the Indiana Pacers on January 10, he would play the next three shots of Torodol to suppress the pain, but would miss time.
“I haven’t seen my ribs. We haven’t done another image, but I feel good,” Herro said. “I’ve taken a few hits there the last few days, and it feels a thousand times better than it did before. So I feel good. I don’t know what the actual rib would look like if I took a picture of it, an MRI or something. But I feel good.”
At any rate, Herro looks to continue helping Miami as the team is 30-27, with its next game coming against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night.
