Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green weighed in on Kevin Durant’s latest alleged burner account controversy and compared the situation to a “Key and Peele” sketch during a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show. Green addressed online speculation about a private account that some believe is linked to the Houston Rockets star.
Green acknowledged that the matter is unproven, but suggested that, if true, the fallout could create awkward tension inside the locker room.
“I personally would address it publicly if it’s a public thing and taking the life that it’s taken in. But to everyone’s own. But I’ll tell you what, if that’s the case I don’t know how you get back into practice, I mean walking back into practice after a break, almost you walk into the locker room, it probably feels like a Key & Peele sketch. Just a little weird like what do you do? Uh what’s happening brother? Not me. Yes, this is supposedly KD’s burner account. Maybe one day we will know the truth?
Screenshots from an account called @gethigher77, which is now private, circulated widely during All-Star Weekend. There is no verified evidence that Durant operates the account, although the speculation has sparked widespread online debate.
The account reportedly criticized several Houston players, including Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Sengun, questioning Sengun’s shooting and defense, while raising concerns about Smith’s scoring and defensive consistency. Other claims show the account has criticized former teammates Devin Booker and Kyrie Irving, including comments labeling Booker a “dictator” and depicting Irving acting as if Durant owed him something.

New allegations loom over Rockets star Kevin Durant’s burner history

Durant has previously linked to anonymous social media accounts. In September 2017, while playing for the Warriors, he accidentally posted a reaction in third person from his verified account that was intended for the burner account. The tweet defended his departure from the Oklahoma City Thunder and criticized former coach Billy Donovan and teammate Russell Westbrook.
According to reports at the time, the tweet read, “He didn’t like the organization or playing for Billy Donovan. Their roster wasn’t that good, it was just him and Russ.”
Durant has since spoken openly about his social media engagement. During an appearance on The Pivot Podcast in October, he described posting online as a form of emotional release.
“I don’t want to create that much hatred toward the media or the fans,” Durant said. “So I just say what I feel at the time.”
The 37-year-old signed a two-year, $90 million extension with the Rockets following their offseason trade in a multi-team deal. He has continued to perform at an excellent level, averaging 25.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists, while shooting 50.6% from the field and 40.3% from three in 50 games. Houston has a record of 33–20 and is in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
The Rockets will return to action in a road matchup against the Charlotte Hornets (26-29) on Thursday night at 7:00 PM ET, as the focus turns back to on-court performance amid continued speculation on social media.
